Luciann-CookeLuciann Cooke is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor in the state of New Jersey treating a range of mental health disorders. Her unique style embraces new clients from the second they walk into her office. Patients may be greeted by a puppy (or two), Tupac, Madonna, or Journey playing in the background, and a chic office atmosphere including waterfalls and ambient lighting. Sessions are held traditionally (on a couch), or if you prefer on giant bean bag chairs, or even a massage chair.

Master’s Degree in Social Work from Rutgers University

She earned her master’s Degree in Social Work from Rutgers University with a concentration in clinical social work and addiction counseling. Luciann began her career working with substance abuse, depression, anxiety, codependency and co-occurring patients, however returned to school to further her education in trauma and trauma focused therapy.

Certified Clinical Trauma Professional

She became a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional in 2016. She is also fully trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy by the EMDR Institute. Luciann works with complex and developmental trauma patients as well as adult onset traumas resulting in PTSD. She is also trained in the Recent Traumatic Events Protocol (R-TEP), working with patients who have recently experienced a traumatic event or series of events. She created and offers a trauma program that incorporates both individual and optional group therapy.

Morris County Drug Court Team

Luciann is also very passionate about the field of addictions and served as a member of the Morris County Drug Court Team. She believes that one size does not fit all when treating addictions and supports the goals of her patients whether it be abstinence, medical marijuana, suboxone etc. She utilizes a range of modalities to assist her patients who are battling different addictions and is extremely knowledgeable in both traditional and non-traditional forms of treatment. Throughout her career she has worked with hundreds of voluntary and mandated substance abuse patients as well as their loved ones. She is non-judgmental and provides an experience that is often commended.

One Circle Foundation

Luciann is also a trained facilitator by the One Circle Foundation, with a special focus on working with adolescent females with issues that arise as they transition into young women. Her work history includes experience working in the school systems doing therapy and running female groups on building healthy friendships/relationships, body image, self-esteem, setting boundaries, health, and wellness.

Luciann encompasses her education, professional experience, and past personal experiences to best assist her clients in reaching their goals. She utilizes self-disclosure when it is beneficial to her patients and provides interventions that are “outside the box”. Her wide range of experience has allowed her form relationships with other treatment providers/facilities, the NJ Court System, Probation Officer, DCPP, school systems, and local psychiatrists. She forms connections easily with her patients and provides a safe and non-judgmental environment. She is usually the “last stop” for those that have been unsuccessful in prior treatment. She is down to earth, fun, and values every person who walks through her door.
